Album Notes

This CD was mostly done in a New Hampshire basement on cheap equipment. I was living the winter in a tipi in the Catskill Mountains at the time of recording it. Many of the songs were written in my tipi on chilly mornings by the warm fire. I first record the guitar and vocal tracks simultaneously, then do the overdubs of other instrumentation, such as up-right bass, piano, etc. Often it takes me a few tries at a song before I get a take that I'm satisfied with, but for this recording I kept the first take of pretty much every song! I think it had something to do with the way I was living at the time, and keeping the raw energy of that first try really appealed to me.

The CD features 11 original songs, 3 of them recorded a few years back in Colorado, plus an extra track which is a gift to my brother and sister-in-law. Check out my web site www.jameskrueger.com.

This is a wonderful collection. The music is soothing, yet danceable; the lyrics playful, yet serious. The songs sound like they come from the heart of a man equally at home navigating a mountain path and the emotional intricacies of a relationship.

I bought this CD because I knew James Krueger's parents. I listen to this CD because of James Kreuger's beautifully sung, exquisitely played, soulful music.
