Album Notes

Recorded after a snowstorm during holiday season to guarantee a true ambiance, Jeannettically Modified Christmas Songs is a collection of jazz versions of classic Christmas carols. Jeannette sings with Reg Schwager on guitar, Michel Donato on bass and Michel Lambert on drums. Her quartet brings new energy and swing to old favourites like Good King Wenceslas, We Three Kings, Jingle Bells and Auld Lang Syne. The album also includes two Coltrane-inspired versions of Greensleeves and What Child is This? Sister and brother as well as being a songwriting team, Jeannette writes lyrics to Reg's compositions. They have included some of their original material here with the ballad Was It Your Song?, Daydream in the Snow and The Traveller, a song that was recently featured in Jeannette's short film called Bringing Liberation Day Home that she produced for the NFB/Who We Are independent film project. This is Jeannette's 9th album as a leader and was inspired by the holiday parties she's performed at over the years.
