Album Notes

A former member of the seminal 1980's garage band THE MORLOCKS (Epitaph, Voxx, Midnight), Jeffrey Luck Lucas is also a classically trained cellist who has appeared on records by Neurosis, Pat Ryan, High Water Rising, Steve Von Till, Chuck Prophet, Paula Frazer, Barbara Manning, and others.

After getting himself an education--from divorce, whiskey, and the laws of physics--he sat down to write the songs that were burning in-- and breaking-- his heart. Eventually this catharsis drove him down yet darker highways, through midnight heavens and hells, only to create the starry backdrop for his beautiful and dark, divinely ominous music. Jeffrey Luck Lucas creates music that is alternatively slow, dark, cinematic, tragic, intensely lustful and lovely as well as heartbreaking. These are songs that evoke visions of desert emptiness, loneliness, bitter love, and sweet-- but often deadly-- passion: these are hallucinatory western spirits in the headlights... there and then gone.

These are songs that shouldnt be picked apart in a funky review.... just enjoyed. If you like music thats thought provoking, very heartfelt, emotive and means as much to the musician and listener alike then you should go check out this album & Jefferey's work!!

A beautifully thought-out score to the inner workings of the mind, heart, conscience, and ethos of a fallen drunk wanderer in search of joy and purpose in the small hours of the night.  No pain without beauty, and vice versa of course, comes through in the lush arrangements of cello, pedal steel, electric guitar and Lucas' singularly evocative and halting voice.
