“When I see others respond to my music, I am reminded that my gifts are not my own. This album is a part of my purpose.”
J.Locke Hailing from North Carolina, is a Christian hip-hop artist. He found his calling as a performer at a young age when he was asked to sing a song at his local church. “I was so short, no one could see me in the pulpit,”
he recalled. “That was my first performance.
And from then on, I was hooked.”
According to J.Locke, the deciding factor in becoming a gospel artist came with a renewal of his relationship with the Lord. This watershed
marked the beginning of a more Christ-centered message, yet continued the theme of his previous works—truth. “I never lied in my music. So when I gave my life to Christ, the new music was just a reflection of where I was at that point in my life,” he said.
His upcoming album, GOD SENT ME acts as a documentary of the transition he experienced
as a lost soul living in the world to a child of God finding a home in the body of Christ. This journey allows J.Locke’s music to be transitional across gospel and secular genres. “My goal for this album is for it to be a tool of encouragement to other children of God so they can find their way home as well.”
