Album Notes

TIM YETT AS WELL AS JAN MICHAEL LOOKING WOLF ARE BOTH 2008 NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD NOMINEES AS "FLUTIST OF THE YEAR" TOGETHER ON ONE CD!. THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED IN THIS GENRE AND MAY NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN! THIS CD IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTE MUSIC.

Tim Yett (Cherokee) flutist and guitarist teams up with Jan Michael Looking Wolf, a Kalapuya Tribal member to create: “Breath Maker,” a passionately energetic and heartfelt offering of contemporary “Indian-Indie” music. The CD is an awe inspiring mix of contemporary acoustic melodies with guitar, world drums, and a variety of Native flutes that produce a modern sound while never lacking authentic native spirit.
Tim Yett 2007 Native American Music Award and 2007 Indian Summer Music Award Nominee is a renowned performing artist, producer, and philanthropist. Tim has written and performed music in many different genres over the course of his career which solidified his extremely versatile style. Primarily a performing artist and producer, Tim was encouraged to set-out on a recording career laying down tracks in his personal style for which he has a passion for: New Age and Indie Rock. Not only as a guitar player of exceptional talent, Tim also performs and records playing the Native American flute. His flute style is a blending of traditional indigenous melodies laced with noticeable Celtic voicings drenched in ancient spirit. The breakthrough CD "Breath Maker" speaks to a new direction that the Native American style of flute music is destined to move toward. This powerful body of work could not be possible without the synergistic pairing and talent of his musical front man: Jan Michael Looking Wolf, a well-accomplished Native American Flute recording artist, offers an amazing flute performance with melodies that blaze a new trial for the instrument. Jan Michael provided flute on all but one track for the CD.

Jan and Tim are incredible musicians. I've had the fortune to see them in concert, playing songs from this album. Every song is deeply spiritual. Creator was definitely smiling on them in the studio.

I was so excited about getting another Looking Wolf CD that I was remiss in not mentioning how much I enjoy Tim Yett's guitar and flute accompaniment on the Breath Maker CD. Sorry, but that is what happens when you get old. I may have forgotten to rate the CD on my other review but, if so, it's because there aren't enough stars to rate Looking Wolf's beautiful flute music properly. His music is just too wonderful.

What can I say about Looking Wolf's new CD, Breath Maker, other than it is wonderful, as is all of his music. The captivating sound of the Native America flute simply takes your breath away, and Looking Wolf's magnificent skill only adds to its exquisite sound. Although I am not usually a fan of contemporary music, I certainly enjoyed this CD. But then, I love all of Looking Wolf's music.
