From the ashes of the Black Tuna Gang, The Other Guys, Cucumber Forest, Mutant Roadkill, Codename: S.O.D.A., The Healers and Jerks In Jeans comes the hell raising quartet known simply as Johnny Mohawk and the Assassins. Formed Halloween 2004 by Johnny Mohawk (vox), Gary Piston (bass, vox), Karaoke Bob (guitar, vox) and Scotty Mnemonic (drums), J.M. & A. set out to establish themselves as a punk rock contender with songs like “Let’s Get Drunk", “Dickie Drives A Yugo" and “American Punk".
As the shows increased, so did the opportunities. Soon, they were signed on with indie label JIB Machine Records based in Cleveland where operations were just starting to gain some momentum. Then, in late 2005, Scotty was replaced by The Chad (formerly of A Whole New Beast and Angrybird) on drums just in time for the whirlwind month of January and its various dates. The addition proved to be for the better and the force known as Johnny Mohawk and the Assassins has been getting tighter and more dangerous with each pass.
The band's long-awaited debut CD, "Drinking As Always", was finally released via JIB Machine Records on 2/27/07. The guys are now ready to take their show on the road so be sure to catch them when they're in your town!!!

I got lucky and came across these guys on the internet, bought their album, and loved it. It's great from begining to end. There's not one crappy song in it, which is rare. It could easily be one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. I would definately recommend everyone to buy this album.

Reminiscent of the very best in old-school punk, Johnny Mohawk and
the Assassins' raw, in-your-face edge personifies (and sometimes
caricaturizes) everything punk rock. Their newest release, Drinking as
Always, is a fun and aggressive collection of tracks fueled by piss,
vinegar -- and lots of booze. The album's stand-out track, "12 oz of
Fury" is a truly original song whose shifty rhythms and amusing lyrics
make it a must-hear. Other stand-out songs include "American Punk,"
"Liberty Under Siege" and "Let's Get Drunk," whose catchy vocal lines,
driving rhythms and bare-bones approach define the band's garage-punk
sound. Also featured on the album is a cover of the late 1950s Dion
classic "Teenager in Love," which is sure to appeal to an even wider
variety of punk-rock enthusiasts.

Can I give it more than 5 stars?

I listen to a lot of independent bands. And I mean a LOT. And this CD is hands down one of the best I've heard in years. Johnny Mohawk and the Assassins is a band that's going places. With a stop at the bar along the way of course. There is simply not a bad track on this disc. Old school punk with more than a little hard rock swagger, attitude, and volume. Stand out tracks include: ALL OF THEM. Pick up this disc so you can say 'I knew them when'. And if you get a chance - you HAVE to see them live. As good as the disc is (production is top notch by the way) - there is no substitute for seeing them live. Trust me.

ADD THIS TO YOUR COLLECTION!!

Just got this CD and listened to it all the way through, and then played it all over again. This is a great CD start to finish, with my personal favorites being "12 Oz Of Fury", "Tell Me Something I Don't Know", and "American Punk", but in reality, there isn't one clunker in those whole set. I've seen these guys live too, and what you hear on this CD is amplified 100 times in their live set.
Stellar CD, production, and tracks.
