Joe Mystery Group is a Doors-influenced rock band led by guitarist-composer, Joe Mystery, and vocalist-UFOlogist, Emilio Reeves.
Though Doors-inspired, the Mystery group is not merely a Doors-clone act. The band has forged their own unique mythology, incorporating urban legend, UFO lore, war and ecology themes, and other outrageous subject matter.
Joe Mystery Group has played CBGB's and a number of other important New York City clubs during its career. The band also is known for their infamous and highly acclaimed underground video, "Nazis in New Jersey." This video, originally banned by MTV, has one of the more unrivaled and unbelievable ending sequences of all time. It has been aired extensively on Manhattan, South American and Canadian cable TV, and features Emilio Reeves and Joe Mystery.
A serendipitous 2003 foray on to AcidPlanet.com led to the reuniting of Reeves and Mystery, after five Joe Mystery songs were voted #1 in the classic rock/rock categories.

Classic Rock for the New Millennium-Song Descriptions
Mothman: An extraterrestrial entity stalks the West Virginia hills, wreaking havoc. Emilio Reeves sounds the warning about the "ebon majesty" that is Mothman.
My Little War (Shock and Awe): War epic inspired by the Middle east conflict and written from the soldier's perspective. Reeves sings the hell out of this with Joe Mystery playing an organ solo that might make Ray Manzarek sweat (thanks Ray). "Sing hosanna to the steel birds of prey."
Amazonia: Before these money-loving bastards asphixiate and defoliate the planet, take a stand. Amazonia is a ballad with tremendous orchestration, melody and punch.
Desert Storm: Soldier's song to his girl. A bullets and blood, beer hall opus that will get you cranked up and reaching for the ammo. "Like a desert storm, can you feel the power." Searing guitar solos and vocal by the mysterious icon, Joe Mystery.
John Wayne Gacy (Killer Clown): Definitely one of the first true tabloid rock songs, Killer Clown tells the story of serial murderer, John Wayne Gacy. John played children's parties as a clown, and then went about the business of murdering more than 30 people. As Reeves intones, "He bore the name of an American hero; his IQ is high but his conscience reads zero...You might have him, right in your town."
Nostradamus: Did Nostradamus foretell the future? You be the judge. This new age song, in the Aquarian tradition, is an example of the great songwriting of Joe Mystery and Emilio Reeves. Stellar vocal performance by Reeves, the "Greatest Actor in Rock and Roll."
Summer of Love: Cautionary tale about the demise of the hippies. A great epic song with a hypnotic-psychedelic feel. Drama to the max including big, heroic vocal and LSD guitar solo.
Predator of Love: Larger-than-life interstellar love song with Emilio Reeves incanting, cajoling, and hammering you with a no-holds-barred vocal and spoken recitation. Ominous organ accompaniment only adds to this over-the-top head trip.
Let's Go Insane: Joe Mystery wrote this Jim Morrison influenced rant, one of his earliest songs. Check out Joe's seething vocal, and a guitar solo that easily puts the guy in the top 100 rock guitarists of all time.
Nazis Get Out of Nashville: There are no categories that capture the essence of this song. It combines satire, and musicianship of a high order. Emilio Reeves does a spectacular, unstoppable southern evangelist preacher and faux-Elvis vocal. Joe Mystery brings up bottom with a solo from hell.

Classic sounds for a new generation!
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.comJoe handles the guitars, keyboards, drum programming and backing vocals. Emilio is the deep dark vocalist. Their music is a blend of psychedelic and classic rock with a heavy Doors influence. The instrumentation is carnival-like, reminiscent of the swirling magical key work of Ray Manzarek. The songs are unconventional and deal with such topics as UFOs, urban legends, Nazis, war and environmental concerns. The lyrics are serious yet hints of satire shine through. For example, 'Killer Clown' is a grave commentary on a serial killer but the instrumentation blends a marching band beat with whimsical keys that are almost upbeat. 'Summer of Love' has a dreamy quality complete with a trippy guitar solo. It captures the sights and sounds of 1967. 'Let's Go Insane' picks up where Jim Morrison left off with its perceptive rap and funky 60's groove. Classic Rock for the New Millennium is an apt title for this CD, as the music is reminiscent of the psychedelic era with a modern edge for a new generation!
