These are my favorite solo recordings from 1998 – June 2010. Please check out Bathtub Mothers for the full-band versions of some of these songs. The earliest recordings of the traditional song, "In the Pines," are by blues icon Leadbelly (Hudie Ledbetter). On some versions, the lyrics “black girl” are replaced by “my girl.” I hope that everyone interprets this song as lamenting racism rather than supporting it. The melody and arrangement on this recording I learned at YMCA Camp Echo near Fremont, MI in the 1970s.All music and lyrics ©1990 – 2010 John C.
