Album Notes

Johnette Napolitano is a Hollywood native now residing in Joshua Tree California and best known as the main songwriter/singer/bassist for the 90\'s rock trio Concrete Blonde (the band\'s single, \'Joey\', was an international #1 hit). Last years\' solo debut, \'Scarred\' (Hybrid Recordings) much of which was co-written and produced by Londoner Will Crewdson, longtime UK session guitarist and co-founder of the English glam-rock band Rachel Stamp, received the best reviews of any previous work of Napolitano\'s long career. The two met in a London record store in the late 80\'s when Crewdson recognized Napolitano and kept in touch over the years, Crewdson sending the odd track of his more recent works as writer/producer.

\"Will and I are online a lot, and I love his sound, I love the tracks he sent me that wound up on \'Scarred\'.We talk about songs, we\'re always going off about what would be a great cover, and I always thought that Oils song was genius: a great dance track, great bassline, and a political message..Native Rights, something I believe in strongly. I\'d been inspired from recording John Trudell out at my cabin, and am always trying to balance the right balance of thought, subject, emotion and badass groove into whatever I put out...Will and I talked about it, and sent me this track and I flipped, it was so great. I love what he did to the choruses, they\'re very female, sad and pleading where the Oils\' is more demanding and macho...Will\'s sounds are more industrial, more Modern War.\"

Napolitano has appeared as co-writer/producer/vocalist in the last few years to films with writer/producer Danny Lohner of NIN, The Australian Film Commission, Wes Borland\'s Black Light Burns, Native American poet/activist John Trudell, the French pop group Tour de France and most recently co-writing with A Perfect Circle\'s Billy Howerdel for his new band, Ashes dIVIDE (Island)and NYC Spanish-language virtuoso Cecilia Villar / El Juri. A gallery artist as well, Napolitano will show this fall in Joshua Tree, Ca. (Art Queen Gallery).

This track was produced, recorded and performed by Will Crewdson in London, England. Johnette\'s vocals were recorded arranged by Johnette and recorded by Jim Mankey in the Mojave Desert, California. Mixed in England by Will with Johnette.
