People Magazine
"Animal-Crazed kids will dig these new tunes, including "Mosquitoes", "Tofurky Song" and "Froggie Went a Courtin'," a swingy spin on the classic children's ballad." -Michelle Tauber
New York Times
"Her band may be called the Nightlights, but there’s nothing soporific about the music."
New York Post
"Shine a light: There’s nothing better than a rock band for kids that can make grown-ups laugh, and with tunes like “The Tofurky Song” and “Mosquitoes,” Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights pull it off."
Time Out NY Kids
"Local chanteuse Joanie Leeds's latest will be a hit with young zoologists in the making—every song on the CD features a different animal friend. Listen up for a take on the traditional "Froggie Went a Courtin'" with an appearance from rapper Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, a cover of the Phish song "Possum" and the sweet original "My Butterfly."
What A Zoo is a new group of rockin' Joanie Leeds tunes, this time with an animal-themed twist. While many of the songs are "animal friendly", they aren't all about saving animals per se'. For example, the CDs single, 'Mosquitoes' is about squashing those filthy blood-suckers! The Phish cover song 'Possum' explores a darker side and teaches us what happens when we don't look both ways when crossing the street. Some of the tunes teach animal lessons Butterfly explores metamorphosis, endangerment is investigated in 'Sea Cow', 'Big Blue Whale' and responsible eating in 'Tofurky'. Special guest rapper Secret Agent 23 Skidoo makes a guest appearance on an updated version of 'Froggie Went A' Courtin' and 'Happy As A Clam' tackles all the animal-isms we use in our daily lives. The rest are just plain fun produced with the same amazing team used on multi-award winning album, 'I'm A Rock Star'. These songs bring attention to animals in a rockin' way parents and kids can dig together.
