Album Notes

"In the City" marks Jodie's first full length album with veteran and Emmy-winning composer/producer, Lisa Ratner. The album also includes, "Matter of Taste," produced by Matt Pendergast. Witty and moving stories with a beat....listeners can relate to the break-ups, crushes, friendships, jobs and the rhythm of life in a big city. Jodie first recorded an E.P that including "Words" with her band "Grace Over Glass." Since college, Jodie has been performing as a solo artist and with several NYC based bands.
While working as a staff song-writer and lyricist for East/West Music Inc., Lisa Ratner and Jodie began a collaboration which led to the creation of "In the City.” Jodie has also created several other compositions this year for various artists recorded at Fastrax Studios. Jodie's simple and elegant piano style is especially apparent on "Strangers." Ratner’s background includes writing for superstar artists such as Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton, and writing and producing national advertising campaigns for Buick, Maybelline and Kelloggs etc. Lisa's longtime experience in the industry combined with Jodie's fresh outlook, music, and lyrics make for an extremely versatile and crossover friendly album.

SOME WORDS FROM JODIE:
"I write songs to help keep me sane and also to track my time. I spend most of my day listening to music that inspires and enlightens me, as well as reading books with narrators whom I can relate to. I hope that my stories resonate with listeners and the songs make people feel good! I 've learned so much this past year making "In the City," and I cannot wait to get back into the studio and continue to create and carve out my sound.

Jodie has performed at venues included NYC’s “The Bitter End,” “The Living Room,” “Le Poisson Rouge” "Pianos" "Sidewalk Cafe" and her favorite stage, “Caffe Lena” in Saratoga Springs. A graduate of Skidmore College, she was musical director of the Skidmore Accents and during those years started her first band, “Grace Over Glass," with
Zack Schwartz, Seamus McGraw and Jasper Guarnaccia. You can find Jodie playing songs off her new album around New York CIty, Brooklyn and New Jersey.
