A Kaleidoscope of Great Hooks and Vocal Feats
author: Alice Marie
From the first time I heard Fantasia, I was impressed with Joe's ability to hook an audience with both his melodies and operatic vocal ability. With poetic lyrics like "I'm just a star in your orbit," his conquest is complete! Besides buying the CD, you have to catch him live to complete the kaleidoscopic experience.

Raw, Defiant, Powerful sound
author: Stevie
Joe Cahill's vocals on "Kaleidoscope" are raw, defiant and powerful. The songs evoke memories of David Bowie's experimental phase in the 60's and 70's, especially "Space Girls". The CD gives us a rich blend of Psychedelic, Hard Rock and some R&B.

Powerful follow-up
author: Janie Woods
"Kaleidoscope" moves Cahill forward from the sad, wistful previous "Lost Weekends". There's still that playful, fun Pop feeling that prevails on "Lost Weekends", but this EP CD is different--right from the start. "Fantasia" is an experimental upbeat psychedelic dream song and sets the tone for the music to come. "Space Girls" continues along the same vein, but here, Cahill growls the chorus. No sad resignation here! There's a sensual, angry, in your face sound to the other songs; "Dark Angel", "I'm A Refugee" and "Take Me". "Refugee" contains cryptic, defiant lyrics and a dirty guitar. This is his darkest composition. There's some R&B here with the fusion-sounds of "Take Me", a sexy carribean/Rock song, and the romantic, soothing "Seasons". The latter reminds one of the Rolling Stones. And to top it off, we go back to a fun dream-like song "Dream Of Egypt" which puts us back in the playful psychedelic mood of "Fantasia". "Kaleidoscope" is a short but sweet Brit Pop offering and a powerful folow-up CD.
