Album Notes

Joe Colledge is a rapidly rising singer/songwriter from Morristown, New Jersey. This self-produced debut LP places Joe among the hot new songwriters of today's musical era in the pop/rock genre. Recorded as a demo album with nothing more than an 8-track recorder, Convent Station demonstrates his insightful songwriting skills and ability to create catchy hooks without high-tech studio effects. This is music in its purest, most honest form.

Much of Joe's inspiration for Convent Station was derived from the events of September 11th. As Joe drove in to work that day facing the Manhattan Skyline, he witnessed the horrific scene that lives in infamy with all Americans today. He was moved to put his complex emotions to music and bring it to as many people as he could. The songs practically wrote themselves.

Joe Colledge taps into his personal experiences with life, love, depression, and hope in every song while inviting the listener in to share the experience with him. From the 9/11 tribute, "American Song", to acoustic ballads such as "Serenity", one can't help but feel the emotion of the music. Then there are tracks like "Burden", "Lost Again", and "Skyline Drive", which instantly impel you to sing along to their undeniable hooks and catchy melodies.

Joe is now busy performing both solo acoustic acts and shows with his full band in venues of all sizes in the New York Metro area. The resulting word on the street of Joe's live act and the debut CD, Convent Station, is that he is surely generating a buzz in the independent music community that shows promise of a long career for this new talent.

"I was compelled to work with Joe Colledge because the truth and immediacy of his music is rare among today's singer/songwriters. Unlike most of today's pop artists, he doesn't fabricate an image based on marketability. With Joe, there is no faking it - he sings straight from the heart exposing his true emotions without apologies."

REVIEWS

Cutting edge singer-songwriter!
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com
Joe pens songs that have catchy hooks and soothing melodies. He refers to the CD as a demo but its organic quality brings integrity to the music yet offers room to grow the songs as well. This twelve-track collection is a personal record and a response to the events of 9/11. Colledge recalls seeing the New York City skyline every morning as he drove to work. The dramatic change of view after that fateful day inspired two of his most powerful songs, 'American Song' and 'Serenity'. They are heartfelt, acoustic ballads that are sung from the heart. 'Best of Me' has a foot tapping tempo, subtle chords and soft, meaningful vocals. Joe Colledge is a cutting edge singer-songwriter and Convent Station has plenty of potential!
