J O E G A M B L E - F O R E W O R D
"Guitar-geek fusion meets ambient soundscapes with a healthy dash of aggressive rawk, adventurous harmony and ethnic flourishes filtered through a completely random sense of humor creating a Super Vibe Deluxe."
Joe Gamble the man is about 5'11", brown hair (what's available) and eyes, little bit-o-facial hair, runs a lot, vegetarian, broke his arm at age of 6, never been to Greece, nor the Moon, been known to rock a turntable but not the mic, never been propositioned by groupies but has received autograph requests from overseas, thinks the word "bean" is funny and, oh yeah... ROCKS THE HOWZ ON THE GEETAAAH!!! And he plays bass, drums, sings and sports a production chop or two.
"Oh, Mr. Gamble. Wonderfully sick, twisted, unstable, possibly dangerous Joe Gamble..."
Joe's musical history runs deep but reads incredibly boring. Been a "hired-gun" guitarist in Colorado for the last 10 years. Has produced records for other artists that have garnered national airplay. Lent his considerable skill to many a company's radio and television ads, selling all types of various doo-dads. Appeared on record with many well-known industry names but- he wishes to intentionally obscure that part of his history because says Joe, "I would rather slam a door repeatedly on both of my hands than take another cheesy sideman gig." He continues, "I quit all of my regular sideman gigs and dramatically scaled back session work to FOCUS on presenting my own expression through a number of my own projects which is exactly what I wanted to do all along before I got sidetracked making money playing insipid music for boring artists with absolutely nothing to say (smile)."
"There is A LOT to absorb here."
Upon listening to Joe Gamble's debut CD Foreword, one might ask themselves "where has this guy been?" followed quickly by "how can I avoid this place myself?" Much advance critical praise has been given to Foreword but none of it is due to Joe's use of such time-honored traits as taste, restraint and mastery of traditional song form. Foreword is rather an extremely entertaining narrative walk through a series of "Fractured Fairy Tales" where Joe played all the instruments, sang what needed to be sung, engineered all the tracks and mixed the record himself.
Check the praise:
"Reminded me of Steve Vai at King Crimsons house with Frank Zappa and Allan Holdsworth hanging out."
"One thing however, is for certain-- even after one quick run-through --
and this is BLINDINGLY obvious: there is NO shortage of creativity or
talent in the Joe Gamble family. Good Christ, man! The terms "Mad
Scientist" and "Evil Genius" spring to mind. I LOVE IT!
It's awesome! Every note just screams "I'm having FUN!"
