Joe Kidd and The Gash; Biography and Mission Statement

My name is Joe Kidd and I play in a band called Joe Kidd and The Gash. Recently we finished recording our first album, and had it pressed and packaged. Now we seek promotion for the album through radio play, shows and review. We were hoping that you could listen to the CD we’ve enclosed in this demo package and let us know if you’d be able to help us. Currently we have no label backing or distribution deals and we realize that without that kind of representation it is hard to get a foothold in the music industry, so any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated. Tracks 1, 2 and 4 are our focus tracks. If you would like a pressed copy of the album please let me know. There is contact information at the bottom of this page and also on the demo CD.

ABOUT THE BAND;
Joe Kidd and The Gash is a surf-punk hybrid with subtle touches of 1970's NY Post Punk. While the hooks are catchy, JK+G's music surfs the wild edge of invention. It's a familiar yet engaging experience to new listeners.
After playing many different genre's in other people's bands Joe Kidd set out to develop his own brand of music. Pulling from influences such as Dick Dale, The Dead Kennedys, Devo and The Violent Femmes he sat down to record in August 2003. He played the drums, guitar, bass, keys and performed all the vocals. The 7 songs he recorded on his friends digital 8-track were mixed on the cheap and never mastered, part in tribute to his punk idols but mostly due to lack of cash. In 2007, with the help of Yasha Phillips on drums and Corky Cook on bass, five tracks were recorded at Alder Street Recorders in Hepseria, CA and mastered at Silver Sonya in Virginia. Those tracks were put together with the original demo to form Joe Kidd and The Gash's first release, "Fever Dreams".
Fever Dreams received a few good reviews and was played on a hand full of college radio stations. Between 2007 and 2008 Joe Kidd and The Gash worked on self promoting Fever Dreams and playing shows all around Southern California but big ambitions would prevail. The band placed first at Fresh Fest and won recording time at Mystic Studios in Apple Valley, CA. Since then Joe Kidd and Yasha Phillips have been in the studio with Nathan Paul, who has signed on as producer for the band.
The bands newest work, "Coping With Killer B's", is an ambitious departure from it's simple punk roots. The new album blends tempo and time changes with quirky melodies, all snuggled beneath soaring harmonies. It's an interesting piece for audiophiles to devour but still a recognizable work from Joe Kidd and The Gash. While old influences are subtly apparent, the new songs harbor flavors of Talking Heads and Television. The album is due to be mastered in September 2009 but the band (now with ACE on drums and Eric Henkins on Bass) has all ready started to tour in support of the release. Citizens of the world, be on your guard...because here comes Joe Kidd and The Gash!
