Joel Evan is the reincarnation of singer/songwriter Jet Kanashi. "Embracing the Light...and then some," is Evan's first album under the new name. The album is an eccentric blend of 16 new songs with influences from jpop, latin pop, and singer/songwriters such as Tori Amos and Utada Hikaru. Themes of the songs range from an escape from the ordinary, self-realization, emotional critiques of human existence, and a desire for one to become more than he or she has existed as so far. "Embracing" features the hit single "I'll Keep Smiling," as well as Evan's cover of the classic Sailor Moon theme song, "Moonlight Densetsu," (Moonlight Legend), performed in japanese, and a cover of the A*teens's hit song, "Closer to Perfection," done in the style of Depeche Mode.
All song lyrics written by Joel Evan except track 6, "Moonlight Densetsu," written by Kanado Oda and Tatsuya Komoro and produced by permission from Foray Music O/B/O Sailor Moon Music, Foray Music O/B/O TV Asahi Music Co LTD and Foray Music, and track 11,"Closer to Perfection," written by Alexandra Talomaa and produced by permission from Zomba Enterprises, Inc.
