Album Notes
Both Sides is the debut album by composer/guitarist Joseph Marcinek. Each song is bristling with excitement, energy, and groove. Marcinek is a graduate from the Indiana State University Music School and fused his love of funk with the complex jazz harmony and rhythm he learned. Each song's evolution was influenced by countless refining on the stage. With the right group of musicians and songs he decided it was time to document the progress.

Joseph hand picked the best musicians from Northwest Indiana to bring to life his vision. Buddy Pearson displays his complete mastery of the electric bass with melodic solos and intricate supporting bass lines. Pete Koopmans brought the fire to the drums and gave each track its feel and heartbeat. Local piano legend Waz provided the perfect accompaniment on Fender Rhodes and acoustic Piano to give each song its color and dynamic. In order to heighten the strength of the melodies Joseph added Stephan Cook on violin and Adam Turman on alto sax. The violin added a unique vocal quality to the album and blends in symbiotically with the guitar. Adam's sax provided the counterpoint necessary to tie it all together.

The album was recorded at the wonderful Alley Recording Company in downtown Valparaiso, Indiana. Marc Nelson was able capture the magic and make each instrument shine. The album was recorded in three days in September 2012.

Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy Both Sides!
