Album Notes

In his debut solo album “AMOR DE TANGO”, recorded in Buenos Aires February 2007, Joe Powers captures the sultry urban sounds of a 1920’s Buenos Aires in it’s golden era. Expressively wielding his chromatic harmonica he synthesizes the mournful cries of the bandoneon, the sobbing violins, and the bravo cantante into one Tango-dynamo.

The album features 14 sizzling tracks of DANCEABLE Tango music accompanied by a trio of Argentina's most prominent Tango musicians; Latin Grammy nominee, Nicolas Ledesma on piano, Horacio Cabarcos on bass, and Raul Luzzi on guitar.
The pieces range from the intimate and reflective Tango waltz “Flor de Lino”, to the explosive “Mi Dolor” (my pain), to the playful milonga groove of “La C...ara de La L…una”. Powers reinvents classic tango songs like “La Cumparsita” and “El Choclo” with his improvisatory twists and turns.

Powers has performed throughout the world as a soloist and has appeared with such well known acts as British pop artist Jamie Cullum, and lounge-pop sensation Pink Martini. As one of the world’s only Tango harmonica players, Powers is known as a musical pioneer and international sensation. For more information, visit www.joepowers.com.
