Last Clock on the Wall

Being a huge Joe Purdy fan, I listen to his music all the time and I must say I am a little disappointed in his new album. It is definitely a lot slower and more mellow than "Only Four Seasons" and "You Can Tell Georgia," which are my favorite albums by him, and it took me a few listens before I really got into it. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album, but being compared to his previous excellence, it's hard to top! Especially since I feel that a lot of the songs on this album sound kind of similar. Usually he mixes it up more with a few 'upbeat' songs on the album, which this album seems to lack. Personally, for the mellow stuff, I still like "Julie Blue" better, but hey, I am just one man with a simple opinion. And you will definitely see me at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Fransisco in October to see him play!!

this album is a bit slower than some of joe's past work, but a great listen nonetheless. joe's added a lot of violin and it works beautifully. i definitely recommend this for joe purdy fans.
