Few things are more enjoyable than a music recording that smacks of honesty from the artist.  Joe Purdy's work on "Julie Blue" pleases the ear with heartfelt singing and an apparently simple yet skillful musical performance; more than that, "Julie Blue" also engages the soul and mind of the listener, transporting him to a particular moment in time and a very special place on this world.

Folk music is probably my favorite genre, and Joe Purdy's work on "Julie Blue" is some of the best I've heard in a while.  Mr. Purdy occupies pride of place in my personal pantheon, along with The Mamas and the Papas, Bob Dylan, and Joan Baez.

This is such a great album, so raw and full of feeling. Joe has a superb voice that is so easy on the ear and I don't hear artists of this caliber as much as I would like to. Am keeping my ear and eye on this guy.
