Album Notes

Joe Sublett's trademark Texas Tenor saxophone sound has been featured on CDs by The Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, Elton John and Leon Russell, Gregg Allman, Randy Newman, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Burnett, Keb Mo and Richard Thompson to name a few.
After starting his career in Austin, Texas playing in the legendary R&B band, Paul Ray and the Cobras alongside a twenty one year old Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sublett eventually made his way to Los Angeles where he remains an in-demand session and touring musician. He has also composed music for TV and Films.
Joe Sublett is co-leader of The Texacali Horns along with Darrell Leonard and a member of The Phantom Blues Band.
On "Subtones' Joe steps out as leader and growls and wails his way through thirteen soulful, tough, gritty and sometimes surprisingly tender saxophone pieces. This is music for your soul.
