Album Notes

From the streets of Riverdale, New York to Scotland’s Edinborough Fringe Festival; from the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall (one of five reputedly “acoustically perfect” spaces in the world)to the world famous Bitter End, the drive to distill experience into words and music has taken this singer/songwriter on a wide-ranging journey.

Clive Swersky, of TV's "Alive with Clive" said, "Joe Travers is a thoughtful, insightful and multi-faceted singer/songwriter with his finger on the pulse of a broad range of social issues...an undiscovered national treasure destined to take his place among such legendary singer/songwriters as Neil Young and Willie Nelson."

Larry Oakes, Founder of Singer/Songwriter Sessions NYC said, "Joe is truly a classic Singer/Songwriter. His storytelling through colorful lyrics, melody and choruses leaves you anxious for the next chapter. Refreshingly keeping the 'old school' alive...”

Joe's song "Call It America" was honored by the 2006 Peacedriven Songwriting Awards. He has a large catalogue of material, touching on themes as varied as the spirit of America, veterans' issues, modern physics, coming of age, the Greek myths, love and loss, and the hero within. His sound blends the genres of acoustic pop, Americana, folk, Celtic and country. (Think Marc Cohn and Alison Krauss meeting James Taylor and Dougie Maclean for a Guinness). He is a member of ASCAP and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His compositions have also been heard scoring dance concerts and plays across the U.S.

One play is never enough—from the toe-tapping, chuckle-causing “Ignorance of the Law” to the heart-wrenching “By Cedar Creek”—you’ll find yourself putting Joe Travers’ Journey Home on continuous replay. The music is varied and the perfect background to a collection of songs that are not only great fun to sing along with but also make you think. My favorite song on Journey Home is “Is There a Way?” it’s the perfect “How the heck did I get here and where am I going with my life?” song and, along with “The Other Side”, very encouraging. You’ll find Journey Home to be like a fireside chat with a good friend.
