Album Notes

“As a listener, you want to meet the fascinating characters in Penn Station Opera…or maybe not. Joey Salvia’s haunting vocals, tight playing and palpable storytelling take you on a fascinating ride with more ups and downs--twists and turns--than a runaway train.”

--Jeff Hillery, Sr. Producer, Fox News Radio

Written, performed, and recorded by Joey Salvia, this eighth commercial release from Songs In A Nutshell Publishing includes dark, melodic anthems, a tribute to vampires, and a song about addiction set to a stripped down ballroom groove. File under: Roots Rock meets Emu-Americana with a slight twist of twang.

Haunted is a conceptual, digital release that can be downloaded as a special edition EP. Although Track one (Penn Station Opera) is the essence of this recording, you can get single versions of each song (a few tracks are stripped down as alternate ghost mixes) and the bonus Track 6, On The Ropes.

"Armed with an old laptop and cell, I wanted to release a project that had a theme and style, but with very little production sense. My most recent album included guest musicians and no use of loops, computers, or gadgets. This little homemade concept release... I sit alone with the rain pouring outside as I plug my guitars( bass, electric, acoustic) and synth into a little laptop... I sang and played most of the guitar "live" at the same time... to very simple loops I've created.... then added a few extra ear candy. The cover for the project was taken with my iphone. " JS

"Recording at Abbey Road (was not possible)
A talented cast of musicians (were too far away)
Supersonic sound quality (in lo-fi mp3 format)" M.T.

Advanced Reviews:

"Beautiful, hypnotic, and soothing in its ambition and imperfection. Salvia opens his vein and bleeds his haunting melodies over a landscape that sounds like a modern day crooner in heat with utter desperation. One listen and you'll be hooked again." Lestat de Lioncourt

"Like drinking a thick milkshake in the diner on the far side of Lonely Street." Jimmy Dean Presley

" Alas, music for blood sucking freaks! Pulp Fiction meets True Blood on a Lost Highway." Count Dracula

" A One Man Rock & Roll Lounge Act. I've found the soundtrack for my long lustful evenings!" Blacula

" Cool guitar tones, lush baritone vocals, phat groovin bass, and songs that will haunt but never scare you!" Casper (Yes, the ghost)
