Johnathan Long's "Theodore" is a collection of songs based on, or inspired by, the poems of Theodore Roethke, a mid-20th century American poet from Michigan. The album explores themes of nature, memory, the longing for, and impossibility, of returning to times, places, and people from the past. Undertaken as a solo project, all vocals and instruments are performed by Johnathan Long. The collection features primarily acoustic instrumentation and draws on folk, Americana, country, and rock influences.
