Album Notes

For years, whenever I played the blues, people would come up and ask if I had any cds for sale. I didn't really, though I had cds in other genres. I love the blues and have wanted to make this recording for a long time for those others who'd asked and for myself. Here it is and I'm proud of it.

'Blues Matters!'; a mag from the UK writes;

"John Brady is a well known musician in the Buffalo, NY area, working solo, in bands, and as a teacher. If he has a wider reputation in the Blues world, it would be down to his song 'Hooked On You' which makes an appearance on the Albert Collins album 'Cold Snap'. He spreads his net wide, the album prior to this, 'Human Hands', was an Americana release, but this follow- up sees him firmly in acoustic Blues mode. Stripped right down to drums, upright bass, and whatever Mr. Brady can turn his hand to (guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, harmonica amongst), it's a very accomplished set of original material, which certainly explains his inclusion in the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame- if not why he isn't better known as a composer! Songs like 'Cold Hearted Woman', 'Downright Sinful' and 'Dark' are crying out for a wider audience. The latter tune, 'Dark', is truly 'shiver up the spine' material that demands a hearing. He's not the greatest singer in the world, but does have a passion for what he's doing, which lifts the material in between bouts of expert picking. An album certainly worth hearing."
