John C. Wiseman and his musical background is nothing if not eclectic. John came from a musical family, with exposure to both classical and folk music at an early age, and at each point in his lifetime, he has been exposed to - and performed - a number of different styles of music. From folk, to country, to straight-ahead rock, to maritime, and most recently to Renaissance Faire music (as a member of the group Minstrosity), John has had many diverse influences.

John's first solo CD, "Simply Entitled", reflects that diversity in the variety of styles in its tracks. Central to most of the tracks, however, is John's songwriting, which won him an Honorable Mention in the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his song "The Future Isn't What It Used To Be" (featured on Minstrosity's third CD). On "Simply Entitled", there are seven original songs, covering a wide range of styles. For example, if you want a look at what really goes on at a Renaissance Faire at closing time, John tells the story in "The Parking Lot Strip", a song that was featured on "The Dr. Demento Show". In contrast, John pays tribute to the crew of the space shuttle Columbia in the song "Seven Angels (for Columbia)". Another color in John's pallet comes out in the rocker, "Coraline". Yet all of these songs have in common John's unique perspective and quality.

Additionally, there are four traditional folk songs on "Simply Entitled", showing John's versatility in that style. These include "Danny Boy", "The Wabash Cannonball", "Hard Times (Come Again No More)", and "Planxty Irwin".
