Album Notes

“A Change of Scene” is my third CD for Cdbaby, and I think this is the one I’m most proud of. I experimented a little more with my song writing and recording tecniques. It is still an acoustic collection, with harmonica and different vocal trackings, but in my humble opinion, the songs are a step up from my first two CD’s.

Here are the liner notes on the CD.

1. JUST CAN’T LEAVE IT THERE
(FOR ALL THE ACOUSTIC YOUTUBE MUSICIANS)
2. SIMPLE LITTLE LIFE
(JUST ENJOYING THE SIMPLE LIFE
TOGETHER) 3. AIN’T BEEN NOTHIN’ LIKE ‘EM
(A TRIBUTE TO THE EARLY PIONEERS OF ROCK AND ROLL)
4. GREYHOUND BUS VACATION
(A BUS TRIP MY BROTHER, JOE AND I TOOK BACK IN ’77)
5. SINCE 1917.
(A SONG ABOUT AN OLD GUITAR I FOUND AT A GARAGE SALE)
6. KNOCK ‘EM DOWN
(SHOW THOSE BLUES WHO’S BOSS)
7. WE DON’T WANNA SAY GOOD-BYE
(I WROTE THIS FOR BILLY RAY AND LISE, WHO HAD TO FACE THE LOSS OF THEIR LITTLE DOG, SOPHIE AFTER 18 YEARS
8. LEAVE US ALONE
(I KNEW SOMEONE WITH FINANCIAL PROBLEMS AND WERE CONSTANTLY HARASSED BY BILL COLLECTORS. I THINK IT MUST BE VERY COMMON THESE DAYS, SO THIS SONG IS FOR THEM.)
9. A CHANGE OF SCENE
(I ALWAYS LIKED THE IDEA OF CHUCKING IT ALL WHEN THE STRESS GETS TO BE A BIT MUCH.
10. 50-YEAR-OLD KID
(KIND OF LIKE THE SONG, “SINCE 1917” BUT INSTEAD OF AN OLD GUITAR, IT’S ABOUT OLD ME)

All songs written by John Fern (2009)
