John's debut album - A collective of thirteen tracks with the intent of having a grounded & earthy vibe to the music, letting acoustic guitars & character filled vocals drive it. Though purposely stripped back to capture the essence & intimacy within the songs, an eclectic vein overall still reflects out.
With tracks ranging from pure bare bones, or Irish fiddle, to violin & cello filled undercurrents swelling out orchestral ambiance, whilst other songs slide slightly into the blues.
Many of the tracks lend well to additional instrumentation including Greek bazuki, Memphis blues harp, piano & soulful/gospel backing vocals by noted jazz artist Zoe Galant.
Blending many palatable flavors, ‘Organic’s’ main strengths lay in its subtle acoustic bedded roots, gently pulling it back from falling over the top, even when the full on enthusiasm of some songs try to push like a freight train
Mastered by legendary ‘THE WHO’ producer Jon Astley (of BMG) ‘Organic’ has a finished sound that co

Stars -
Such a delicate tune, all consuming with a drifting piano piece that gently rolls through its main body. A string score swings like a lullaby – musically creating a very peaceful, whilst potent atmosphere.
LYRICALLY this is about being so close to someone that all you want is everything they are & have to give - their heart, soul, blood and bones & their mind and body - asking for the stars & the world in itself if they could conjure it.
Darkest Day -
A song full of grit, energy & push, with overlapping vocals picking up on counter melody piano’s leading to a powerful finish. But its acoustically driven roots ensure it never loses its way.
LYRICALLY based on a poem called ‘Darkest Day’, by poet Jules Gaunt, it encapsulates the ordeals of living with obsessive compulsive disorder & bipolar syndrome.
Expressing how darkness can consume you, enveloping every relationship & your every action until you reach a point where you plead that things could worsen no more.
Look & You Will See -
Musically this is quite a fusion, with a ‘western film theme-like pick’ under-pinning the songs core. Spanish chords then over-lace this & additional snapping guitar licks somehow seem to sit comfortably whilst morphing between Spanish scales & the blues. Over this are raw & exposed vocals sounding a touch balladic, as the content of the lyrics goes against the grain of everything around them. Somewhat of a hybrid that comes across very much as a story-teller’s piece.
LYRICALLY this deals with isolation & the growth which this can evoke – inner strength rising up when facing mountainous woes that have endless peaks & above all finding that smile again if it becomes lost within all the stresses & burdens of life.
Part 1: Echoes of Addiction -
Here is an instrumental piece that is a variant play of the later track -‘Drinking his Soul’. All entangled together with multiple acoustic guitars, Greek bazuki & a haunting melody.
Resist Your Smile -
Infectious guitar riffs drive ahead happily eating up the blues through & through. With a pumping bass grinding under the whole thing as the gospel female voice of Zoe Galant duels against the lead vocal. Full on & fiery!!!
LYRICALLY - looking at fate. In another time & place & if our faces, persona’s and ‘self’s’ were totally different would we still find each other & would we connect.
Sleep -
This can only be described as somewhat hypnotic & calming, emulating its theme of quieting the mind & chasing slumber. Ticking clocks & a taunting guitar piece ride against a gentle piano & big violins and cellos’, all building a song to just fall into until an uplifting progression has the music’s subconscious comes back to life.
LYRICALLY, your clock is ticking away, the alarm call is crawling ever closer & your mind will just not switch off.
Reach -
An intimate song of sparse guitar intertwining with a distinct violin mirrors the earnest male & female vocals as they push and pull in a duet, providing a perfect base for the personal themes of the song.
LYRICALLY how we go through life closed off, yet reaching out a hand & opening up freely is the only way for us to be fully known.
Cross the wires -
Full of impact like a powerhouse of force at times & then simmering down at others. Pure driving music, with a real pushing guitar that riffs like a full on steam train coming at you, rapidly striving forward with a passion, as vocal lines want to grab you by the throat & deliver the lyrics with attitude. If you can hold on for the ride you’ll find plenty of punch & a strong presence.
Out of the Ashes - Picking guitar & sincere vocals bounce off one another.
A pure acoustic performance - no overdubs, no counter melodies, just plain & simple - put the song right there in the room with the listener.
LYRICALLY, how the bonds we build over time & how history between friends & lovers plant foundations to overcome any hurdles.
Not Today -
Held together by a lazy, dragging guitar with a laid back attitude & yet somehow the song is not robbed of its vibrant bounce & uplifting energy, all of which rise up a notch with the powerful vocals of the chorus.
LYRICALLY this is simply about getting off your backside. But at the same time the song is not preaching & has a cheeky smile in the knowledge that we are all guilty of tomorrows that never come.
New Year resolutions - anybody?
As these lyrics say “We’re going to change the world some way, just not today.”
Come Bother Me -
A crisp & bright picking guitar melody dances along with a beautiful & rich cello, within which mellow vocals show a gentle restraint, overall creating a warm & exposed song.
LYRICALLY entangling all the nuances & quirks in loved ones, that sometimes can slightly irritate or annoy, but usually push on through to become the endearments that make you smile.
Alone -
This is a very bluesy song with a very open guitar that lays a perfect bed for the strong vocals popping against it. Zoe Galant provides such soulful gospel backing vocals that chill the spine and a great Memphis blues mouth harp filling the guitar’s intentional spaces, pulls the whole thing together. As things progress all 3 elements finally come together in a blood rush crescendo with effortless ease.
LYRICALLY the young free & single mindset, but after all the excitement & game playing - is that ‘one night stand novelty’ really enough.
Part 2: Drinking His Soul -
Such a varied collage of instrumentation, give this song an essence unique to itself. Strummed guitar & a picked counter melody roll in & around one another. Greek Bazuki then floats to the top & beds down the sound until lead violin comes alive & grabs full attention.
LYRICALLY very direct, there is no alluding or imagery here – just a pure musing at the destructive grasp of alcoholism & how it builds walls & isolates.
An album that will take you on a roller coaster ride and leave you wanting more!
