Album Notes

Tropicizer...it's a made-up word that hopefully brings to mind steel drums, smooth grooves & especially those goofy drinks with the little plastic umbrellas. Relaxing, fun and most of all...not too serious!
This music has a reggae/soca/jazzy feel, with lots of Jobim-ish nylon-string guitar, a blatt of jazzy steel pan, smooth jazz sax, white boy soul vocals & horn sections attempting to mimic the great sounds of a Cuban big band.

Having spent a portion of my gigging career in the tropics, these styles of music came easily and naturally to me...and it was a lot of fun writing and recording tunes that...for a change...actually reflect where I am performing! If you like any of that stuff, you'll hopefully find something in here that speaks to you!

John G. McLane performs all of the music on this cd. This includes:
Keyboards
Electric Gutar
Nylon string and Acoustic Guitar
Alto Saxophone
Steel pan
Bass Guitar
Drums & Percussion
Trombone (as the bones of contention)
Lead and Background Vocals

About the tunes:
"Can't Give Up" first appeared on the BB Dogg cd with an R&B arrangement. But...this is the right one...a positive message with white boy soca joy !
"Sunny Day", "Gentle Persuasion" and "You Speak My Language" were actually co-written way back early '90's...but with these fresh arrangements, they seem to fit the cd well.
Several tunes like '"Evening Cocktail", "Cherry Fest","Steel This" and Josh N' Heaven are an instrumental part of this kooky tropical-jazz theme.
"That Buffett Song" tells the story of a rocker's conversion to flower-shirt music.
