Album Notes

John H. Clarke was born in Southern California. His family moved to San Jose, Ca where he spent most of his childhood. John now resides in San Francisco.

John had an deep interest in music from an early age. He started taking guitar lessons when he was 11 with hopes to become a rock and roll star. As a rebellious teenager he didn't stick with his lessons and decided to teach himself. He eventually put his electric guitar down in trade for a Spanish guitar as his passion for world and cultural music developed.

In college John put music on the back burner to pursue his deep interest in activism and social justice issues. He received his BA degree in Community Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He did manage to take a few music classes in college, and he was a member of the UCSC Latin American Music Ensemble for two years.

After College John went to live in Mexico where he taught English for the University of Guadalajara. A year later he moved to Boston, MA. After a few jobs in the non-profit sector John re-discovered that music was his real calling. It happened in the humid subways of Boston where he began to play solo guitar as a street performer. The positive reaction and appreciation he got convinced him to make music his career.

John now works full-time as a guitarist in the San Francisco Bay area. He is a featured musician for the world famous tourist attractions Ghirardelli Square and The Cannery at Del Monte Square in SF. He also plays regularly for the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association. John Specializes in Classical and Spanish guitar music.
