Album Notes

After spending the nineties playing bass in numerous San Francisco bands with names like The Fuck-Ups, Hell on Wheels, The Strays, and Yer Mutha, John headed to Woodstock, N.Y. and decided to start performing his own tunes.
After spending the early part of the century (that sounds wierd) playing solo-acoustic and attracting the attention of many, including EyeSee Music's Ian Charles and legendary sound engineer, Stuart Breed (of Art Garfunkel, Paul McCartney fame), he got the electricity jones and decided to assemble a band. Enter the Thief...
John recruited his childhood friend and kick-ass drummer Dave Reynolds, Sean Powell for his noteworthy and tasty lead guitar work ("reminiscent of the late Danny Whitten" Chronogram magazine Oct.2004), super slinky bass goddess Holly G., and the well placed colors' of backing vocalist Karen Pignataro to form the loosely tight Generous Thief.
Their first full-length studio album, "No Rest", is due out on the EyeSee Music label on April 18th 2006. The world needs some good honest Rock, and the Thief have the goods, period.

Great sounds all around

In Woodstock, NY this summer. I picked up a copy of this CD. It's great to see it here on cdbaby. It's a cool rock CD. It's like classic rock / alternative rock. From the opener, "The Pair" to the closer,"Foxy" it works and works well. A solid album. No filler.

A friend suggested that I pick up this album, and I'm glad I did! These songs are so raw and real! My personal favorite is "Ungrateful", which brings me to tears every time I hear it. Rock on John Holt!!!!!!!
