Album Notes

This album contains two suites.

"Metropolis" came about by recording my playing through a digital delay effects processor for the first time, all the while looking out of the window on a Perth Winter's day. I assembled some of the results into a suite. There is no overdubbing on this one.

"Three Views of A Folk Song" is a an improvised deconstruction of a fairly well known folk tune. Two guitars and a synth. The synth cuts out at around 14 minutes, allowing the guitars to strike out on their own journey together.

Recommended listening - Metropolis.
3. Metropolis - a theme played in chords.
4. Subway - a short bit of noise.
5. Amorphous - the heart of the piece, a bit minimalist
8. City of God - church bells ring

Three Views Of A Folk Song
9. You won't get much of an idea in two minutes. It's quite a journey. If anyone is interested, I can put some longer excerpts on my web site.

A word about my music.

Technically I am a blues guitarist who is trying to write beautiful music. I try to take people to new musical places.

I would say that it is
- unique, I've yet to come across a similar style
- all original
- has a blues/jazz/soulful, sometimes even a spiritual feel
- contains either solo or overdubbed pieces
- sometimes features blues harp, slide guitar and synth

Most of my albums are instrumental and feature extensive improvisation. I like writing suites, it enables me to focus. I'm more interested in sound than songs. I listen mostly to string quartets, classical and occasionally blues and jazz.

If you are in any way interested in what I was playing in my youth, I have over six hours of my early bands playing blues/jazz/rock in Perth, Western Australia in the 60's and 70's. These are in MP3 format, and available for listening and/or download, at my website.
