Thinking a little about this cd it occurs to me that a lot of the themes have been with me an extremely long time. Some tunes just wont leave you alone! Its natural for me to enjoy writing in various quite different idioms but i think writing for an orchestra is the most expressive of ones true self, and those tunes that wont go away can be sort of put to rest. Like jazz, its a wonderful indulgence to find a theme and then stretch it out!
