ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
NEW NEWS for 2010!!! ANOTHER one of the songs from this album was chosen by the Nashville Songwriter's Association again this year! We are so proud to have this honor two years in a row. The "Title" song "Everyone's A Kid On Christmas Morning" was the winner this year. It will be on the NSAI 2010 Christmas Compilation album of 12 songs.

John Jay Martyn sets up a cool mood for Yule time with his album "Everyone's a Kid on Christmas Morning.” Last year in 2009, John's song, "The Night After Christmas" won the Nashville Songwriters' Association 'Christmas in July' contest and that song will be on NSAI's Christmas CD compilation that gets handed out to all of the Nashville Publishing Companies as a Christmas gift. What an honor to have won such a stiff competition!

Last year, 2008, a German record label by the name of California Sunset Records licensed "What Cha Puttin' In My Stockin'?" for their compilation CD for Germany, Austria and Switzerland; and at the same time a "coffee shop" type store called Feinhost Kafer licensed that same song for sale on their Compilation CD for their Shoppes.

In 2007, this album was the Sponsored album by the Fort Lauderdale Winterfest Boat Parade, and was given away in over 200 'goodie' bags to the 800 people who attended their Black Tie Ball.

John has been composing music since his teenage years and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He is in the commercial jingle and advertising music production business, and is the co-owner of Audacity Recording. John Jay has produced more than a half dozen albums for other artists and is debuting his own talents with this self-produced album. John Jay performs his signature jazz vocals as well as all of the piano, bass, and drum tracks. Take a listen to what John Jay describes as "Happy Hour Christmas jazz.” When you purchase this album, you’ll be happily entertained.

The album also showcases some of South Florida’s top jazz performers including Turk Mauro on Saxophone. Turk has great chops and has recorded several solo albums and also performs regularly with Eric Allison, Pete Minger, Dolph Castellano, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Billy Marcus, Jeff Grubbs, Danny Burger, among many others.

Chaim Rubinov stars on trumpet and flugelhorn. Chaim has played around the U.S. and South America with different bands and has performed with artists such as Marvin Hamlisch, Nestor Torres, Tito Puente, Jr., David Sanchez, Melton Mustafa, Miguel Cruz, Jesse Jones Jr., and many others. Chaim’s versatility allows him to perform many styles of music; ranging from Latin, Haitian, Reggae, Gospel, Jazz, Top Forty, Rock and Roll, R & B, Klezmer, and Ladino music.

Jimi Ruccolo (also on CD Baby with his titled album “Sorry, I’m Late”) is a native Floridian and an exciting singer-songwriter and burnin’ guitarist. His vocals are blues oriented and fabulous. He’s played with numerous artists over his extensive career. He’s known around town as the ˜first’ call on any session, and has been involved with John Martyn for years in the jingle business.

Ted Strauss performed in numerous jam and country rock bands in the NYC area in the late 60's and early 70's. Ted taught himself how to flatpick guitar, play mandolin and sing Bluegrass. Ted spent his time playing Olde Time and Irish music in NYC and in the Washington DC area for many years. Always the band techy, Ted developed sound systems and went on the road doing production and sound engineering for artists including John Hartford, Hickory Wind, Vasser Clements and John Prine.

Dan McGrath (also on CD Baby with his album titled, “Hot Java Band”) sings like Louis Armstrong and plays banjo like Ralph Stanley, (and now, laughs like Santa). He earned his chops playing rock & roll and soul in bars on the Jersey Shore.

Beth Cohen (or more notoriously known as Dangerous Betty) is the female vocalist on “Yhe Night After Christmas” and " 'Til the Ball Falls". Beth is a native New Yorker who came to Miami on scholarship to the University Of Miami where she developed into a finely polished singer. From there, she earned her road wings as a background singer with artists such as Jon Secada and Julio Iglesias. Beth has also been on stage and backed-up Gloria Estefan, Queen Latifah, Debbie Gibson, Isaac Hayes, Kelly Clarkson, Oleta Adams and Raul DiBlasio. She has also recently recorded vocals on Barbara Streisand’s “Night of My Life.” Beth is also a prolific songwriter and currently is President of the Florida National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammy’s) Florida Chapter.

Mary Kai Clark is the female lead on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (composed by Frank Loesser) and backgrounds on "Til the Ball Falls". She spent many years in South Florida as a prime Jingle singer and has toured around the US, Mexico, and South America with Latin pop star, Luis Miguel. She is currently the “Belle” of Little Rock performing in a variety of venues and her Children’s Album that she composed (and co-produced with John Martyn) called “Happy Tails” and is also for sale on CD Baby and i tunes.

THE VELVET FOG LIVES AGAIN IN JOHN JAY MARTYN
When I heard cut 5 .... NIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS .... I knew the velvet tones of
John Jay Martyn had come up with fun filled Christmas CD ....
The three female vocals with some Christmas standards add smoothness to
this lounge jazz Christmas CD ..... great to listen in your car while stuck in
Florida Traffic.

Move over.....
Move over Tony Bennett, Step aside Mel Torme..
Here comes John Martyn. Wow! I was surprised as well as pleased. I am not a big Jazz fan, but this goes beyond the realm of Jazz right into the Spirit of Christmas. A must for Holidays!!!

I played the CD at an open house and people loved it!
I am a realtor and played the CD at an open house I had recently. Not only did the music fill the home with holiday cheer, but I got an offer on the house!

Christmas music with a refreshing jazz sensability!
John Jay Martyn and a few friends have captured the spirit of the holiday season with this wonderful disc! It is refreshing blend of time honored Christmas classics (Baby, It's Cold Outside; one of my favorites), as well as some great new material from John's mind; check out the title track and "The Night After Christmas." The only reason this wonderful album only gets 4 stars is that I didn't want it to end! John Jay Martyn's new album will get you in the holiday mood and leave you wanting more. I can't wait to hear more from John and his group of talented musicians in the future. My recommendation, BUY THIS ALBUM!
