Album Notes
Drive By Johnny is a compilation of deeply personal music created over two decades. Every note, phrase and expression was played by myself. Not only does this collection reflect my evolution and diversity as a composer, but also the ever-changing digital technology that has been my main composing instrument over the last 20 years. My musical influences have always been great film composers of the past and present, but have also included composers of the neoclassical, modern and postmodern eras such as Satie, Ravel and Gershwin. Technology has also played a huge role too. I like to think that the computer-driven system I presently use as a tool to create music is a descendant of the player piano used by musicians over a hundred years ago to compose their works. My biggest hope is the music simply speaks for itself. - John Koetz
