David Juriansz- acoustic guitar

"An extraordinarily talented double bass player with a richly evocative vocal and lyrics to match - a compelling performer if every there was one."
-The Troubadour, London UK

"It's a real treat to hear such a fresh take on the singer-songwriter concept."
- Michael Manring, solo bassist (and with Michael Hedges, John Gorka, Patty Larkin, etc. etc. etc.)

"His bass/vocal approach is intriguing and innovative but never gets in the way of the song itself. Genre-defying music."

"A rare combination of soul, poetry, conviction, and talent."
-Steve Pasero - jazz guitarist, recording artist

"I was, and still am, absolutely knocked out by his bass and voice presentation."
-Linda Tillery- Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra

"...a voice like a 2am top shelf scotch"
-Dan, Venue Owner, Portland Oregon

"Breathtaking! Sting meets Mose Allison and way beyond! Thank you!"
-Jamie at Strings, Emeryville, California.

My new favourite CD
I recently had the distinct pleasure of seeing John play at the Troubadour in London and was absolutely awed by his performance. Beautiful, insightful lyrics accompanied by fabulous musicianship. I picked up the CD that night and it has not been out of my CD rotation since. If you are fans of Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or Seal, you will definitely love this CD!!

JO COBBETT

a powerful voice in the world
My second John Lester CD, and while i love the energy of the live album, this is a great cd. I am so impressed at the voice and clarity of the album, love the bass combined with sincerity. I easily recommend this and play it for friends, everyone I have turned on to John's music is now a fan.

Another great CD!
John used to be a Bay Area fixture gigging with so many greats, Tony Khalife, Celso Alberti, Chris Rossbach, we miss him but are glad he's grooving onward and upward as always. Timeless stuff.

Mike Grodner

Basso Beautiful!
The bass, vocals, and lyrics take front seat on these truly original tunes. Hip lines, soulful lyrics, and pop sensibility. Open a fine Merlot and listen up.

Featured CD on radioioACOUSTIC week of Oct 13, 2003
*all* the songs on this CD are excellent lyrically, and instrumentally. If you like John Gorka, Regie Hamm, Jeff Black, you will LOVE JOHN LESTER! My personal favorite for many reasons is "Out of the Clear Blue Sky" which in my opinion ought to be played everywhere daily - in all countries. See John's website for inspriation notes - we have a featured review on www.radioioACOUSTIC.com this week and plan to be playing this entire CD as part of our "core" group of songs for a long, long time to come.

My favorite CD purchase in the past six months!
I’ve never heard John live, but getting to a performance is high on my priority list now. A friend suggested I check out his new CD and while John’s music is a bit mellower than what I typically listen too, I am really loving it. It just puts me in the right mood, and I get so much more from it every time I listen to it. The energy flows well and his music and lyrics feel so sincere. I’ve mentioned it to a couple of friends that are really enjoying it now too. I hadn’t even realized that one is already a huge John Lester fan! I’m thinking that this beautiful, soulful music will make a great gift for friends around the upcoming holidays.

Mellow, funky, soulful and bittersweet
Don't usuallly write these things, but was so pleasantly surprised when I heard this great little album that I thought it deserved all the help it could get. Mellow, funky, soulful and bittersweet, it also bears up to repeated listening. Four times today already and counting.
