ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, "The Great" John Maddyn started his noble career writing poetry. Believe it or not, the artist never intended on becoming a MC... His first love was the music itself. At the age of 16 he showed his peers that he was a major threat on the production scene using samples from classic rock bands like "Chicago" and soulful R&B groups like "En Vogue." But the artist was much more talented than that and eventually stop using samples saying, "It's not my music... If I had to take a piece of someone else music." As time went on he eventually starting writing to his creations, becoming as he likes to say, "A one man band." "I didn't like my lyrics until much later on in my career... I thought they weren't as well written as the Jay-Z's and the Lil Wayne's out there," he comments. "A lot of the rappers I was surrounded by where in gangs... So that's what they talked about... gang activity," he laughs. "I'm not even about to sit up here and front like I'm a gangsta... I'm just a regular dude... Who knows how to rap." The artist chooses to speak about the things he goes through in his life and what he sees around him. "I like to think I'm sharing a page out of my diary... Cause that's what I know." When asked what he would bring different to the game he replied, "I'm going to talk about what everyone else is afraid to talk about... And I'm going to say what needs to be said." When I asked him to go in depth on the subject he replied, "I'm probably going to need a lawyer!" ....
