Album Notes

The EP version of the "Lost Along The Way" album contains the three tracks recorded over Thanksgiving weekend in 1998 at Matt Butler's (Everyone Orchestra, Hot Buttered Rum, Jambay, and others) home studio in Marin County. It feature's Matt's incomparable drumming, tremendous bass work by Robin Sylvester (RatDog, Missing Man Formation, and others), and spectacular electric guitar, lap steel, and mandolin tracks by Chris Haugen (Melvin Seals Melting Pot, Jambay, Newfangled Wasteland, and others). The three tunes on the record were written during the period following Oversoul's breakup, and they all speak to the combination of feelings of regret and longing for things past with hope and a desire to devour all that the future has to offer. The record itself really documents the process of discovering a new course to chart with solo music.

I've recorded dozens of songs since then, but even now, nearly 15 years later, these remain some of my favorites. They seem to capture my excitement in setting out on my own, and the deep satisfaction of working with these incredibly talented players. I hope you enjoy them too.
