Johnny Hatch is the real deal, a musician, songwriter & entertainer whose catchy name is matched by the songs and pro recording fidelity on his new album ‘Happiness Instead’. The album is filled with well-crafted Pop-Rock-Folk songs infused with passion. Recorded at Ze Studio on the farm near Zehner, Saskatchewan except for the songs ‘Echo’ & ‘In L.A.’ recorded there and Deep Space Studio, Los Angeles, California with Doug Milledge (a.k.a. Doug Deep, formerly of Regina, talented musician and composer for TV shows such as Survivor).
Happiness Instead contains universal stories and inspired melodies with anthemic choruses. Johnny’s expansive tasteful influences naturally express themselves into stylistically diverse, creative tracks. From the rock’n’roll of Lucky Seven Yeah! the disco-rock fun of In L.A to the folk-rock serenity of Let There Be Peace and the roots-rock of Happiness Instead. Not some cheesy teenage-attention deficit music, nor over-intellectualized songs that wont hit the chorus, but well-arranged, thoughtful, fun tunes about living on planet Earth & many love songs. The multi-talented Dave Fries produced, performed on the album and is a band-mate. The Hatchman co-produced. Contributing album musicians include: Pat Kelly, Depen Pandya, Michael Herle, Doug Milledge, Megan Nash and Matt Johnstone.
THE LIVE SHOW The band is having fun in heavy rehearsals. Johnny Hatch plans to perform and tour for the next 2 years. Regional prairie CD release shows are being booked and a Western Canadian tour is planned for summer. Johnny also plans to spend more time in Los Angeles & Vancouver performing and co-writing. The core of the band is Dave Fries on bass, Pat Kelly drums and guitarist Gerry Pittet has recently joined. These veteran musicians are amongst the most talented players anywhere in Canada.
RADIO Several songs from Happiness Instead have already been play-listed by online stations across North America. Songs from the debut EP ‘Hot Traxx!!!’ received radio airplay at college and public radio across Canada.
