Album Notes

This CD was recorded the entire month of Nov. 2008 at Hilltop Studios, just outside Huntington, WV. On this CD, Johnny will give you some country guitar picking, lots of harmonica and some spirited banjo licks to boot. Then there are his country vocals to enhance this grass roots music. Johnny enlisted David Winters from LeSage, WV, to play bass guitar, mandolin and sing harmony.

This CD contains 2 Carter Family songs, “Keep on the Sunny Side” & “Anchored in Love” Johnny brings new life to songs that are old classics and go back so many years, most of them are in the public domain. One of the newer songs, although it goes back several years, is the Hank Williams Sr. “I Saw the Light”. There are 2 originals here. “Looking out for Number One” and the title song, “Garden of Love”. Johnny shares the writing on this one with Marvin Gwin, a writer from Stuarts Draft, Va.

This musical collection lets you relive mountain music and southern front porch socializing of years ago when time moved at a much slower pace.
