Album Notes

One may never know what tomorrow will bring, but today there is Grace.

Montana’s John Patrick Williams has been wandering the countryside for years, finding a traveler’s muse on the road and in the wild and weaving a wealth of experience and tales of the ages into song. This winter, John sojourned to studio to compile his songs into a record, and emerged with Grace. Producer Wayne Murphy (Bear Grass Records) kept the proceedings sharp and simple, allowing John’s exceptional voice and focused guitar to be captured with resounding clarity, while subtle tracks of mandolin and harmonica add rich tone to the sonic palette. Listeners can expect an engaging release with story filled songs as varied as the Montana landscape itself, from the up-tempo drive of “Great Day” to the Celtic wail of “Ireland’s Child” to the ethereal ode to the water “Flathead River Serenade,” great singing and tightly weaved acoustic songs abound.

Bear Grass Records recording artist John Patrick Williams songs are what music should be…they are honest and from the heart. “His writing style is such that he pulls you into his soul and lets you have a look around.” Refusing to be categorized into a specific genre John’s writing crosses between blues, country, Americana and folk. Drawing inspiration from artists such as; John Prine, David Bromberg, CSN&Y, Charlie Romans, Honey Boy Williams and YES, as well as any other musician who performed their work with honesty and enjoyment. "I love playing and singing the blues and my original pieces that are an eclectic collection of rock, blues, folk and country."
