Album Notes

The songs from Kaydi Johnson's debut album, Tied, are a gutsy blend of folk, rock and pop, making it as diverse as it is unclassifiable.

Kaydi's music and lyrics have been described as "haunting and joyous," as well as "provocative and poetic." In "Chiaroscuro," the vocal, acoustic guitar, violin and acoustic bass blend to create a melodious atmosphere of sadness and despair as the song is about the loss of a lover. "Dirty Room," and "I Got Your Eye," uses drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, to create a more upbeat folk-rock-funk.

The track, "Tied," -everyone's favorite- appears to be the simple story of two people who are drawn to one another but resist getting involved because they're committed to other relationships, beneath its simplicity lies a more complex metaphor for unsatisfied longing and desire. It's every ones story at one time or another. Is there anyone who gets through life without denying themselves something because it feels like the "right thing to do," but then realizes there is a disadvantage in that too?

The point is, in the scope of human emotions there's no right and wrong, and Kaydi captures that spirit in her songs. Listen and enjoy

TOP TEN

Absolutely one of my top ten albums of all time, and I've been around a while! In what I suspect is an autobiographical effort, Kaydi delves deep into her own personal struggles and allows us to join in her journey through the human condition. Lyrically perfect, Kaydi's mastery of storytelling is evident throughout. Musically, she evokes emotion and tone that proves she is a top notch songwriter. Kudos to her backing musicians, great players with good instincts. You need to own this Cd! You need to own all three! Thanks Kaydi, I Love Falling Too!

Ever since I heard Eddie while driving through Humboldt County, I've been a Kaydi fan. Though I heard tracks from her second album first, I enjoy her Tied album as much or more than NO DoGs Allowed. Kaydi's my hero

As soon as I heard Kaydi singing I was looking for my guitar to jam along with...The songs are the essence of a pure & natural songwriter, as she relays the feelings from her heart & soul . No doubt, the best album Ive heard in a very long time. She touches people when she plays...and you will feel it...Thats what it's all about.
