Album Notes

Mark Johnson has a very special way of tapping the deepest emotions. His touch at this magnificent grand piano immediately melts the listener away into a secret place of their very own. The music is allowed to breathe, to become what it wants to become, to go where it wants to go, to take us to places unseen. Mark's most intimate personal solo piano moments are captured on five of the tracks on this album... with moments of deep improvisation which the artist himself doubts he can recreate (and often feels that he could not have created to begin with!).

Another five of the tracks take us on flowing instrumental journeys through time and distance...dark and light, wandering and wondering, contemplation, questioning, and resolution. Imagine a symphony in a canyon gorge painting rainbows in the mist of a waterfall... then combining with an echoing of distant tribal drums while a river carries by a spectrum of crystal sonic textures. It's world music meets jazz splashed with beautiful piano melodies.

The eleventh and final peace (not misspelled!) is a nine minute lullabye of sorts... a respite for the sojourned listener to take them into a relaxing afterglow for further contemplation of the journeys traveled; or perhaps ushering the body into a deep sleep and a nighttime of glorious dreams ahead.

One cannot experience the luscious sonic landscape of this album without entering into a personal journey and ultimately becoming changed if only for a time... or perhaps for eternity!
