Album Notes

Horizon Line is the breakthrough debut album from artist Matt Johnson. The record uniquely combines elements of rock, jazz, funk, blues, and pop creating eleven tracks with true musical diversity. Songs with driving guitar riffs and whaling sax solos are complimented by soulful ballads featuring a full symphony orchestra. Fans have described Matt Johnson as a fusion of Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Maroon 5, and John Mayer.

Pioneering new indie-record ground, Horizon Line was written, recorded, orchestrated, edited, engineered, mixed, and produced entirely by students of St. Olaf College, MN. The 40-student project grabbed the attention of Grammy-Award winning mastering engineer Gary Hedden of GHL Audio (Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead) who polished the endeavor two years in the making.

Although the album began as a solo project, four extraordinary musicians joined Matt in 2004 to form the Matt Johnson Band. The broad musical backgrounds of Bobby Klein (guitar), Joey Kantor (keyboards), Chris Bakken (bass), and Jeremy Anderson (drums) contributed immensely to the musical depth and diversity of Horizon Line. Taxi.com says "This band is Amazing!...very talented with loads of potential." Prior engagements include opening for Nickel Creek, regular performances at the Fine Line Music Café, and being a finalist in the American Band Competition. 2005-2006 brings their first regional college tour along with a three week national tour. The Matt Johnson Band looks to the future with eager eyes as their momentum builds, radio airplay multiplies, and their improv-filled live performances electrify audiences big or small.

Theological debate
author: GOD
Although much theological study has been focused on the resurrection of my son(Jesus Christ), it needs to be said that in 10000 years of human exisitence, all of life leads to one moment. Is that moment the debut release of Matt Johnson's "Horizon Line"? I am not quite certain, but what I do know is the cd kicks ass.
