Like the title suggests, Desert Days explores rarified atmospheres and austere landscapes. John has blazed the rugged trails of honesty. Trading sunburn and blisters for clear waters and horizon-to-horizon vistas. He has left the safety of paved roads. Desert Days maps the phases of transformation as self is bartered for Truth. Fluid lyrics and incisive phrasing, tell of hard-won discovery, brought on by full-contact living.

Something about standing on the side of a mountain and looking out over miles and miles of nature brings me a sense of connection to something bigger than myself. All I can say is that John's songs from this CD began to flood into my mind as I stood there. The music by itself is excellent, but the lyrics take this CD to a whole next level. His music captures the human experiences of joy, hope, self-doubt, and grief as well as any I have ever listened to. And just like standing on that mountain, somehow when I listen to John's CD I know I am not alone in the world.
