Dean DeBenedictis: Keys
Jo-Jo Moceri: Drums
Dean is from Los Angeles. He has played with members of legendary fusion band Brand X. He is an extremely talented keyboardist and stays busy playing with many of the top musicians in LA, whether it be live or in the studio.
Jo-Jo Moceri has played and toured with Kid Rock, The Josh Dodes band on VH-1's reality television series "Band's On The Run", and was also a featured drum instructor on MTV's "Becoming". He is originaly from Detroit, Michigan and has lived in New York City (1999-2001) and Los Angeles (2001-2003) where this CD was recorded. He is moving back to New York City in mid August, 2004. His goal is to gain proffessional recognition and go on tour with a national act(s) or artist(s)!
All the tracks were recorded in one take and recorded live!
Track 1 started with the main riff Dean had written. He played the head of the song for Jo-Jo once or twice in his studio and then they went for it and took it way out there. This song has many very cool and moody keyboard changes. This track ends with a very intense drum solo over a keyboard vamp.
Track 2 started with Jo-Jo starting a beat and Dean just joining in. This was completely improvised.
Track 3 started with the main two heads of the song that Dean had written. This track was recorded to a click track and also a pre-recorded bass line and some keyboard hits. Dean played Jo-Jo the riff's once and then they went for it! There are some serious chops being played in this song!
Track 4 is a improvised drum solo recorded live in Michigan. Jo-Jo played this whole solo with a hat over his eyes!
VH-1 compared Jo-Jo to Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Art Blakey!
Jo-Jo was also in the "On The Move" section of DRUM! magazines March 2003 issue! The article went like this:
Let's start with Jo-Jo's envelope, which included a hand written boast: "There's Keith Moon, John Bonham, Art Blakey, and Jo-Jo!" Oh-kee-do-kee! Then he called the DRUM! office to see if we checked out his stuff yet, and sounded a little peeved as he kept our advertising director on the phone for 15 minutes. My interest piqued, so I popped in the video and saw a guy built like a lumberjack pacing around a Guitar Center, tapping on drums, The salesman behind the counter stared as the man-mountain sat behind a kit, picked up a pair of sticks, and proceeded to blow the heads off of everyone within eight square blocks. His ambidextrous hands and feet flew, mixing impossible fills with dangerously fast funk and fusion, without repeating a single bar or blowing the tempo. He made scary faces, didn't break a sweat, and kept it up for ten minutes or so. Jo-Jo Moceri has traveled from his hometown outside of Detroit, to New York and finally Los Angeles, determined to get his career rolling. Along the way he has appeared on VH-1 and played in an early incarnation of Kid-Rock's band. This guy is going to make it. No question about it.

One of the GREATEST DRUMMERS of ALL-TIME!
author: Erich G.
This is how fusion is supposed to sound! The interplay between these two is telepathic. The keyboards are reminicent of Holdsworth/Alan Pasqua, and the drums are like the second coming of Tony Williams! Any fan of REAL fusion can't go wrong here!
