Album Notes

Nationally known for her evocative interpretation of Scottish music, Celtic harper Jo Morrison has performed at venues from the Library of Congress to An Lanntair, Scotland. Having spent several months writing music, teaching, and performing on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, her knowledge and understanding of the Celtic genre puts her in great demand as performer, adjudicator, and teacher across the country. Jo also frequently performs in the harp/shuttle pipe duo Port Righ. Her passion for Scottish music is displayed on her five solo recordings The Three Musics (1998) and A Waulking Tour of Scotland (2000), which also showcase her talents as performer, arranger, and composer. Her Beginning Harper's Tunebook has become a standard for many teaching the Celtic harp, especially to adult beginners.

2008 was a busy year for Jo, who received a 2008 WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Award) nomination for Traditional Folk Instrumentalist, and also earned certification as a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP) to provide therapeutic music at the bedside of the ill or dying. She was a key performer in the HARPA ’08 tour to Norway, as well as releasing her first CD of all original music, Flights of Fantasy, and the accompanying book of sheet music.
