Album Notes
Having run out of ideas for clever birthday presents, I decided in the fall of my senior year of high school to learn how to play one of my mom's favorite songs on my dad's old guitar. Despite the painful outcome of that first song (regardless of what my mom might say) I really became passionate about playing the guitar and soon found myself giving hours of my day away to this small wooden box. About a year and a half later, while finishing up with my freshman year at Miami University (that's in Ohio, by the way) I began writing songs. Some three years after that, in May of '05, with my degree hot off the presses, my debut album "Leaving Myself Behind" was released.

"Leaving Myself Behind" is filled with real-life songs from my past, the past of some of my friends, and fears I have about the future. I really believe that sincerity is much more attractive than showmanship or being impressive, so I write songs about how I see life and the lessons I learn from the things I've seen and experienced. Hopefully through the words I sing and the stories I tell, people will find pieces of themselves in my songs and when they do, life might make a little more sense.

It is one of the most musically and lyrically awesome albums i've listened to
the cd is pretty sweet because after getting over the relaxing and calming guitar playing you realize that the artist actually put time into his writing and didn't just go for what sounded the most 'poppy' or rhymed the best which is appreciated because some cds you can tell were written in about 5 minutes by an artist with no thought at all

Honest, Introspective Lyrics with beautiful arrangements.
The first CD release by Jonah Sage is an absolute pleasure to listen to and experience. From the pulsing "Hopeless" to the soaring "It matters to this one", Jonah Sage takes the listener on a journey of desire; desire for love, companionship, faith, and significance. The introspective and hauntingly honest lyrics are weaved wonderfully through a wonderful arrangement. The music peaks and pulses letting the lyrics tell the story of life. Highlights are "The truth that still remains", "Honest with Myself", "Love Again", "I Find", "Last Chance", and "It matters to this one". This CD is aptly named, in listening and experiencing this CD, the listener can truly leave themselves behind and look outside themselves for their own journey of faith, trust, love, and living a life of impact to those around us. Few artists have the guts to lay bare their hearts for all to see, this honesty will continue to draw you in listen after listen. These lyrics are written to be pondered and mulled over in the mind. Jonah Sage takes a look at his own life and in listening I was challenged to take a long look at mine. "My stiff skin reminds me of where I am. The salt in my mouth, whose I am, the stumbling thoughts of my mind maybe it's time I leave myself behind."I highly recommend this CD.

Great CD
Great CD, and well produced! As someone who sat across from Jonah for 3 years in German class, all I can say is, SEHR GUT!!! His songs are real deep, and feel genuine. This is the well textured sound that you need to listen to on a long clear skyed night drive home.
