"Only A Man," Jonathan Atterbury's debut album has been a long time coming.
Born in the land of palm trees and dreamers (aka Southern California), Jonathan Atterbury has been surrounded by music since birth. Jonathan was taught and encouraged by his family of musicians to love, study and appreciate the beauty and diversity of song. It was in this environment he learned to speak through music. At a very young age he began to play and study every instrument he could get his hands on, including guitar, bass, piano, drums and more.
From teenage punk rock bands, to power-trio blues rock bands, Jonathan has been involved in a diverse and wide range of musical projects and it is through these experiences that Jonathan was able to develop his own personal sound, which is a seamless blend of rock, pop, folk and more. This album is the result of Jonathan's life-long love affair with music.
Jonathan wrote, performed, produced and engineered every one of these songs and each one tells an integral part of his story.
Having been influenced by every genre, Jonathan's music sounds familiar, but also new and exciting.
When listening to these songs, one can hear the experience and maturity of someone who's seen his share of heartache, but also the youthful hope and optimism of a dreamer. The songs are a testament to the wide and complex range of human emotion, and one can listen to these songs and easily recall times when they've experienced these same feelings of triumph, love and sorrow and joy.
