They say practice makes perfect and the 3rd full-length album from Jonathan Fleig proves the statement. Strange Caravan is affectionately referred to as the "Tent Sessions," as a bulk of the material was written by Fleig during 65 day period while living in a tent in a friend's yard in Southern California. The songs are reflections of homesickness, disappointment over the loss of religion, anxiety over the state of the world and a general "letting go," of preconceived notions and ideals.
Strange Caravan is a roller coaster of feeling, emotion and styles. It has been likened to a visit from an old friend in its ability to produce nostalgia for the listener. From Johnny Cash to The Doors the influences are felt and heard from beginning to end. Dealing with loss and the struggle to carve out one's own path in this world, Fleig's lyrical content is relevant and moving throughout. Rock solid performances, outstanding production quality and killer sounds make this album a must have.
